The Ordinary Boys perform their new album Real Life and some of their hits at Concorde 2.
The Ordinary Boys play Concorde 2 on Wednesday 2 December, with the set starting at 19:30. They're touring their new album, Real Life, and the night will pull from that alongside some of their older hits.
If the name rings a bell, it's likely from 'Boys Will Be Boys', the laddish hit that defined their debut Over the Counter Culture and its follow-up Brassbound. After years away from that sound, the band returned to their roots when they rediscovered the old punk and ska albums that first brought them to their instruments — a move that shaped Real Life back in 2016. Now they're back to their original line-up, with Louis Jones of the power pop band Spectrals added in, and they're setting out to recreate the sound, energy and ethos of those early records.
In the studio they've worked with Rory Atwell, who has done work for the Vaccines and Veronica Falls, and Dan Lancaster, known for Bring Me The Horizon and Lower Than Atlantis. Live they describe their shows as energetic and unpredictable, with 'sweat dripping from the walls'.
