The Metatrons, a fuzzy riot-pop band from Hitchin, are currently preparing to release their fifth album, The Ever-Present Now, in June 2026. The band consists of Polly on vocals and piano, Rico on bass, Steve on drums, and Simon on guitar. They have previously opened for acts like Altered Images, Shonen Knife, and Echobelly, and have a back catalogue that includes albums such as Deconstruction (2020) and Lumination (2023). Sharing the stage will be Simon Love & the Old Romantics, who are touring material from their latest album, THE ONE TRUE PRINCE OF WALES (in exile after abdication), which was released in April 2026. Their sound is often noted for blending 60s pop, country, and elements reminiscent of ELO and the storytelling style of Ray Davies or Jarvis Cocker.
Regarding the logistics, tickets are available for purchase. The standard adult price is £11.00, and for those under 18, the price is £5.50. These figures include the booking fees. It is a daytime show, which makes it a bit different from the usual evening gigs at The Prince Albert, but the venue remains the same familiar spot for those who frequent the local music scene. Whether you are a fan of the specific bands or just looking for a Sunday afternoon activity in the city, the event is set to run through the afternoon.
