The Maydays: Confessions! & Guest Improv Superstars

The Maydays are bringing their show Confessions! to Komedia Studio on Friday 2 October, with guest improv superstars joining them on the night. It's a Brighton show that works by turning the audience's own secrets into the material: before the performance begins, you write down your confessions, and the troupe transforms them on the fly into songs, sketches and stories. They've promised secrets, lies and guilt in equal measure, and since the whole thing is built from what the room provides, no two nights end up the same.

Critics have called them 'a troupe to watch out for if you love daring improvisational comedy' and have described the result as combining 'the feel of a late-night game of truth or dare with anarchic improvised comedy'. That truth or dare comparison fits the format well enough — the starting point is your own admission, and the rest is made up in front of you. The guest improv superstars add another layer to the mix, so it's not just the core troupe on stage.

It's an over-16s show, and the seating is unreserved, so you can pick your spot rather than being assigned one. Doors open at 7:00 pm and the show starts at 7:30 pm at Komedia Studio, inside Komedia Brighton at 44-47 Gardner Street, BN1 1UN.
