Interactive midwinter dining experience that is part feast, part performance and part choose-your-own-adventure, with a festive menu by Circa.
The Gift is coming to The Old Market on Wednesday 2 December and Wednesday 23 December, both nights starting at 19:30. It's presented by The Old Market and Mella Faye as part of their TOMPresents in-house live programme, and sponsored by Yes/No Productions. The venue is at 11A Upper Market St, Hove, BN3 1AS.
It's an immersive midwinter dining experience, billed as part feast, part performance and part choose-your-own-adventure. You enter a world of midwinter magic where a cast of cabaret artists, musicians, clowns and performers set the evening in motion, but where it goes from there is up to the audience: every show is completely different and shaped by the people in the room. The night is rounded off with a new menu by Circa of hearty festive food to be shared.
The creators cite Berlin's Social Muscle Club, America's Burning Man and Colombia's Theatre of the Senses as inspirations, and critics have described it as 'a joyful middle finger to holiday capitalism', 'chaotic, heartfelt and unlike anything else' and 'a beautifully bonkers house party with a hundred new friends'. It runs in a recently renovated room that seats between 200 and 500 people.
