An intimate acoustic celebration of The Carpenters' music and story, featuring live performances by Anna Searight and Bee & Jackrabbit, followed by a 70s disco.
The Carpenters - A Celebration comes to Ironworks Studios on Saturday 12 September, an acoustic evening dedicated to the music and story of Karen and Richard Carpenter. The live part runs for two and a half hours with an interval, and the night continues afterwards with a 70s disco in the bar until midnight.
On stage, Anna Searight, Bee & Jackrabbit and others perform acoustic versions of the songs that made the siblings household names. The set includes Close to You, We've Only Just Begun, Top of the World, Superstar and Rainy Days and Mondays. Between the songs, the show traces the Carpenters' story, from their rise to global stardom to the challenges that sat behind the spotlight.
It's a long night if you stay for both parts: the live show takes up the first half, and the disco keeps things going in the bar until midnight. The evening is for ages 14 and over, and anyone under 18 needs to be accompanied by an adult.
