An all-woman indie rock band from Sydney performs live at The Hope & Ruin, presented by FORM.
The Buoys play The Hope & Ruin on Wednesday 17 February, with special guests and presented by FORM. They're an all-woman indie rock band from Sydney, and this is one of the UK dates on their tour.
They've been around since 2016, and their debut album, Lustre, came out in 2024. The Sydney roots are a good starting point for where they sit: gritty guitar riffs and high-energy live shows. They've already ticked off a few bucket-list moments along the way, including touring Europe, playing the Sydney Opera House and supporting Arctic Monkeys.
When they talk about their own tastes, the range is wide. They've named three of their favourite albums of all time: Arctic Monkeys's Favourite Worst Nightmare, Body Type's Expired Candy and Chappell Roan's The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. It's a mix that runs from sharp indie rock to more pop-leaning territory, and that's a fair hint at the kind of ground they cover.
