Brighton's new monthly Reggae Dance Party club night featuring the best of Reggae, Roots, Ska, Rocksteady and Lovers Rock.
Brighton has a new regular fixture for fans of classic Caribbean sounds: The Brighton Moon-Hop. This is a new monthly Reggae Dance Party club night setting up shop in the familiar confines of the Komedia Studio, located at 44-47 Gardner Street. If you’re looking for a dedicated night focused on the deeper cuts of the genre, this might be it. The music policy is strictly focused on the best of Reggae, Roots, Ska, Rocksteady, and Lovers Rock, with several sources confirming a specific emphasis on the sounds of the 60s and 70s era.

This monthly event is presented by the local reggae vocal duo, The Tribulizations, ensuring the night is rooted in the local scene. It’s set up as a standing club night, so expect a proper dance floor atmosphere in the Studio space. As it’s a club environment, entry is restricted to those AGES 18+. Tickets are currently selling quickly, and entry prices are accessible, generally starting around £6.00 or £6.50, depending on where you book your spot.
Since The Brighton Moon-Hop is a monthly commitment, they have a full schedule lined up for the first half of 2026. The upcoming dates are: Saturday, January 31st; Friday, February 27th; Saturday, March 28th; Saturday, April 25th; Saturday, May 30th; and the event scheduled for Saturday, June 27th. It’s worth noting that the start times vary slightly across the schedule; while most Saturday nights kick off at 11:00 pm, the Friday event in February starts earlier, with doors opening at 9:00 pm. If you’re keen on getting your fix of vintage Ska and Roots, make sure to check the specific start time for the date you plan to attend.
