The Black Queen play Dust on Thursday 10 December, their only Brighton date that winter. It's a single-bill night, so they're the only name on the poster.
If you haven't come across them, they're an electronic darkwave band, an LA-based alternative outfit fronted by Greg Puciato and Josh Eustis. The names might ring a bell on their own: Puciato was the voice of The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Eustis has worked with Telefon Tel Aviv and Nine Inch Nails. Both bring a lot of heavy-hitting, high-energy backgrounds to the table, but here they're working in a different register entirely. The darkwave label gives you a good starting point — electronic music with a moody, atmospheric edge, leaning more into the shadows than the dancefloor.
Coming from LA, they're a long way from home for this one, and it's a standalone show rather than a stop on a wider tour, which makes it a bit more of a destination. If you're into electronic music that doesn't shy away from the darker side of things, this is exactly the kind of gig that fits a Thursday night in the city.
