THE BIG ONE WEEK COMEDY COURSE

It’s called THE BIG ONE WEEK COMEDY COURSE, run by Jill Edwards Comedy Workshops. Jill Edwards has been a fixture in the scene since 1994, and she’s the person who helped launch the original stand-up course and the Comic Boom club right here at Komedia back in 2005. Her reputation is solid; she’s trained some huge names, including Romesh Ranganathan, Angela Barnes, and Jimmy Carr. This isn't just a weekend workshop; it’s a five-day commitment, running from Wednesday, July 22, 2026, through Sunday, July 26. The sessions take place at Komedia, usually in the Studio or Basement area, and the daily schedule is pretty full-on, running from 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The course is designed to be accessible, welcoming anyone over 18, whether you are a total beginner who has never stepped on stage or a newer comic looking to refine your material and find your unique voice. The main goal is focused on boosting self-confidence while helping participants discover what makes them funny.

Since it’s an intensive program, it does come with a fee, costing £495 or £475, and all bookings and specific queries need to be handled directly through Jill Edwards' organization. Beyond the classroom work, the course is also structured as a bit of a social summer break. They organize evening social activities, including group outings to local comedy clubs around Brighton, managed by a social secretary.
