Tape Face returns to the stage for his 20th anniversary, bringing his award-winning silent comedy to the Komedia Basement.
Tape Face is playing the Komedia Basement on Thursday 11 March 2027, his first UK tour since 2019. For those who haven't come across him, he's a New Zealander who does silent stand-up: mime, physical comedy, and stand-up with no talking. The show is called Tape Face: 20, marking more than 20 years of the act.
He draws on a wide range of influences: silent film, mime, magic, puppetry, Motown, and the films of Patrick Swayze. The act started at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and has since taken him to Las Vegas as a headliner. Simon Cowell has compared him to a modern Charlie Chaplin, and he's been likened to Buster Keaton, Harpo Marx and Mr Bean. Critics have called the performance 'sublime physical lunacy' (Time Out), 'a delight from start to finish' (The Scotsman), 'utterly spectacular' (Time Out) and 'a truly magical experience' (Chortle).
