A night of stand-up comedy featuring Ria Lia, Laura Lexx and Darren Harriott, with proceeds supporting The Sussex Beacon's Women and Families service.
The Sussex Beacon is putting on a comedy night, Banter With The Beacon, at Komedia on Monday 12 October. It's a stand-up bill with three names on it: Ria Lia, Laura Lexx, and Darren Harriott. All three have spent plenty of time on the telly, so it's a fairly heavy-hitting line-up for a Monday night in the city.
If you don't recognise the names, you've probably seen them anyway. Ria Lia has appeared on QI and Have I Got News For You; Laura Lexx has been on Mock The Week and Live at The Apollo; and Darren Harriott has popped up on Would I Lie To You and The Last Leg. Between them, they cover a fair bit of the UK's comedy landscape, and they're all coming to the same stage on the same night.
There's a specific reason for the bill, too. The night is fundraising for The Sussex Beacon, and the proceeds go to their Women and Families service. That's the part of the centre that works with women living with HIV, providing one-to-one casework, group sessions, and peer support. So, while the evening is built around stand-up, the money from it goes back into that particular service.

The show is in the Komedia Basement, in the North Laine, and it's unreserved cabaret seating, so you'll be at a table rather than in a row of theatre seats. It's ages 16+, and there's a snack menu available if you're fancying something to eat while you watch. Doors open at 6:45 pm, and the show starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets are £14 for concessions and £16 standard.
