A matinee gig featuring three original 1970s punk bands reformed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the birth of punk.
Stormtrooper, Trash and Social Security are playing together at The Prince Albert on Sunday 4 October, a matinee gig that brings three original 1970s punk bands to the seafront. It's a daytime bill, so you'll be home well before the night's over.
Stormtrooper formed at the Marquee club in January 1975, with Nigel Hutchings, Jeff Piccinini and Mike Lee. They recorded tracks like 'It's Not Me' and 'I'm a Mess'—the latter famously associated with a promotional badge worn by Sid Vicious. They've reformed for 2026 to mark the 50th anniversary of the birth of punk.
Trash formed in 1975 after seeing the Sex Pistols, signing to Polydor to release singles like 'Priorities' and 'N-N-E-R-V-O-U-S'. After a long hiatus, they reunited to record the 2025 single 'Matter Of Time' and are playing their first gigs since 1978.

Social Security formed in late 1976 after seeing The Damned, recruiting a roadie named 'Spy' as their singer. They became major players in the Bristol punk scene, recording a critically acclaimed EP on Heartbeat Records that John Peel praised for its wit and songwriting.
