STATUS FLO: LGBT+ History Month

AFLO. the poet hosts another night of spoken word at the Brighton Dome on Monday 8 February, this one as part of an LGBT+ History Month special. It's part of her STATUS FLO series, which brings together award-winning poets and the city's freshest voices for nights she describes as thought-provoking and full of heart, and that challenge the status quo with rhythm and flow.

AFLO. herself is a Brighton-based artist, activist and academic who uses poetry to address hard-hitting topics like racism and mental health, drawing on her own lived experiences. She was previously an in-house artist at the Dome, so this is familiar territory for her. Joining her for the night is guest poet Keith Jarrett, whose work looks at Caribbean British identity, religion and sexuality. He's a multiple poetry slam champion and was selected for the International Literary Showcase as an outstanding LGBT writer; one of his poems, From the Logbook, was projected onto St Paul's Cathedral. He holds a PhD from Birkbeck and teaches at New York University in London.

The night is billed as a chilled performance, and it's for ages 14 and up. It takes place in the Studio Theatre at the Brighton Dome on Church Street, BN1 1UE. Doors open at 19:15 and the show starts at 20:00.
