STATUS FLO: International Women's Month

AFLO. the poet returns to the Brighton Dome on Monday 22 March, hosting another night of spoken word as part of International Women's Month. It's a night she calls STATUS FLO, and the format is one she knows well: she brings together award-winning poets alongside the city's freshest local voices, with special guests coming in from across the UK. It's a mix of established names and new talent on the same bill, and since it's part of a series for International Women's Month, the focus stays on women's voices.

AFLO. herself is a Brighton-based spoken word artist, activist and academic who uses poetry to work through hard-hitting topics like racism and mental health, drawing on her own lived experiences. She's also a former in-house artist at the Dome, so this is home turf for her. For this particular night, she's joined by guest Kate Ireland, a Glaswegian spoken-word artist whose work crosses poetry, music and theatre. Ireland's debut album, Self Regulating Behaviours, came out in 2024, and her one-woman show, Golden Time (and Other Behavioural Management Strategies), premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2025 before transferring to the Roundhouse and HOME Manchester in 2026. The evening is billed as thought-provoking and full of heart, and it's a chilled performance for ages 14 and over.

It runs in the Studio Theatre at the Dome on Church Street, BN1 1UE. Doors open at 19:15 and the show starts at 20:00. Tickets are £14.50, with concessions at £12.00 and a limited number of low-income concession tickets at £7.00.
