Spellbound Alternative 80s Night with a special dedicated to Depeche Mode, playing all their 80s singles, along with Goth, Post-Punk, and New Wave classics.
If you're looking for a solid night out in Brighton next month, the established Spellbound Alternative 80s Night is hosting a special edition. This popular monthly club night, usually held on the third Saturday, is dedicating its February outing to one of the biggest bands of the era. The event, titled Spellbound: DEPECHE MODE SPECIAL, is set for Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the familiar Komedia Studio Bar on Gardner Street. This particular night is celebrating 45 years since Depeche Mode released their first single, 'Dreaming Of Me', making it a deep dive into their early catalogue.

The main feature of the evening is that resident DJs SIMON PRICE (Stay Beautiful) and JAYNEY BLAMBLAM (Total Blam Blam) plan to spin all of Depeche Mode's singles from the 1980s. That means you can expect to hear everything from early tracks like 'New Life' and 'Just Can’t Get Enough' right up to massive hits like 'Personal Jesus', 'Enjoy The Silence', and 'Everything Counts'. Beyond the special focus, the night will maintain its usual Alt-80s playlist, covering the full spectrum of Goth, Post-Punk, New Romantic, New Wave, and Indie Rock from 1979 to 1989. Think Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Cure, The Smiths, and The Sisters Of Mercy mixed in. The organizers describe the atmosphere as being 'just like walking into your actual local alternative club at any random point in the 80s,' complete with smoke and snakebite, plus 80s visuals to set the scene for the standing club night.
The doors for the event open at 9:00 pm at the Komedia Studio Bar, located at 44-47 Gardner Street, BN1 1UN. Since this is a club night, it is strictly for those AGES 18+. The crowd is usually a wonderfully mixed group of people who lived through the era and younger fans discovering the music for the first time. It is a ticketed event, and while specific pricing isn't detailed, links are available to book tickets in advance if you want to secure your spot for this specific 80s time travel session.
