Weekly recreational cricket session for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism, led by Sussex Cricket coaches.
If you are looking for a way to get active or just want to try something new, there is a cricket session running in Brighton that might be worth knowing about. It is a friendly, recreational cricket programme specifically designed for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism. The sessions are led by coaches from Sussex Cricket, so you are getting guidance from people who know the sport well, but the focus here is really on learning the basics and playing some relaxed games rather than anything too intense. You do not need any prior experience to join in, which makes it quite accessible if you have been curious about the sport but never had a chance to pick up a bat.

The sessions take place weekly on Wednesdays from 13:30 to 14:30. Most of the time, you will find the group at the Moulsecoomb Community Leisure Centre on Moulsecoomb Way. The programme has been running since October 2025 and is scheduled to continue until 29 April 2026. There is one specific change to keep in mind: on Wednesday, 22 April 2026, the session moves to Preston Park, meeting at the Chalet Cafe. If you are planning to attend that specific date, you will need to make a reservation beforehand.
In terms of the practical side of things, the cost is ยฃ5 per person. It is worth noting that if you require personal support, you will need to bring a carer along with you, as the organisers do not provide one-to-one care during the sessions. It is a straightforward setup, and if you have any questions or need to sort out that booking for the Preston Park date, you can reach out to Liz Bartlett. She is the main point of contact and can be reached via email at ebartlett@grace-eyre.org or by phone at 07436 093171.
