Weekly cricket session for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism, led by Sussex Cricket coaches.
If you are looking for a regular activity that focuses on getting active in a relaxed environment, there is a weekly cricket session happening at the Moulsecoomb Community Leisure Centre. This initiative is specifically designed for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism, providing a space where the focus is on learning the game and playing friendly matches rather than high-pressure competition. The sessions are run by coaches from Sussex Cricket, which means you are getting guidance from people who know the sport well, regardless of whether you have played before or are picking up a bat for the first time.

The sessions take place indoors every Wednesday from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. It is a straightforward setup: you show up, join in, and get some exercise in a friendly group setting. Because the sessions are held at the leisure centre on Moulsecoomb Way (BN2 4PB), it is easy to get to if you are familiar with that part of Brighton. The cost is ยฃ5 per person for each session. It is worth noting that the organisers mention that if you require personal support, you will need to bring a carer along with you, as the session itself does not provide personal care services.
If you have any questions about how the sessions run or want to check anything before heading down, you can get in touch with Liz Bartlett. She is the main point of contact for this programme and can be reached via email at ebartlett@grace-eyre.org or by phone at 07436 093171. It is a consistent, weekly opportunity to get involved with cricket locally, and since it is tailored for a specific group, the environment is generally quite supportive for those who might prefer a more structured or inclusive sporting experience.
