For this 37th edition, the lineup features three guests who approach music from distinct angles. Matt Thorne will be there, bringing his background as a writer who has covered everything from Prince to the complexities of fame in pop and hip-hop. Joining him is Anjali Prashar-Savoie, a writer, cultural producer, and DJ whose recent work, Club Commons, dives into the realities of queer nightlife. Rounding out the group is Bassie Gracie, a performance poet known for her work in the UK’s DIY music scene, who will be discussing her latest book, Soap on a Rope, which uses satire to explore the nuances of the independent music world.
The event takes place at 72 East Street, Brighton, BN1 1HQ. Doors open and the activity kicks off at 19:30, with the evening wrapping up around 22:15. It is a ticketed event, with prices generally ranging between £5.00 and £9.00, so it is worth checking the official booking platforms to confirm the current rate before you head down. It is the kind of night that tends to draw a mix of writers, music fans, and people interested in the social history behind the tracks we listen to, making it a decent option if you want to hear some specific perspectives on music culture without the usual festival noise.
