Stand-up comedy show by Sophie Duker, the Taskmaster champion, tackling her father and arguing for silliness over common sense.
Sophie Duker is back on stage at The Old Market in Hove on Saturday 3 April 2027, with her new show But Daddy I Love Her. It's an hour she describes as intentionally unhinged, and the title gives you a fair idea of where it's heading: she spends the set tackling her (sugar) daddy issues and arguing that we should all choose silliness over common sense, and hot, wet fantasies over cold, bleak reality. The whole thing is summed up by the show's own motto, 'delulu is the solulu'.
If you recognise the name but can't quite place it, you might know her as the Taskmaster champion. Beyond that, she's a London-based stand-up and writer who's spent a good deal of time behind the scenes: she worked as an assistant producer for Frankie Boyle's New World Order and as a researcher for 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, appearing in both as well as in Greg Davies' Taskmaster. This is her latest solo outing, following previous shows Hag, Wacky Racists and Hot Beef Injection.
Critics have called her 'a sparkling comedian and voice' and 'one of the best comedians around', and they've praised her for ripping through sex and race with relish, as well as for her shrewd storytelling and pop-culture hot-takes. That's the kind of set you can expect here: a mix of personal stories and sharp takes on the world, all held together by that 'delulu' thread.
