Stand-up comedy show by award-winning comedian Sooz Kempner about finding her voice, part of the Brighton Dome Comedy Festival.
Sooz Kempner plays Komedia on Sunday 25 October, as part of the Brighton Dome Comedy Festival in cahoots with Komedia. It's a stand-up show about finding your voice, and it's the one she's been touring since it picked up four stars from The Scotsman, Chortle, Fest and Funny Women.
Kempner is an award-winning comedian, and you might recognise her from The Now Show or from playing Doom in Doctor Who's Doom's Day. She describes herself as having always felt a bit like an imposter, except in one area: singing. When her voice suddenly stopped working the way it always had, she had to face that imposter syndrome head-on. The show is her take on that experience, and it pulls in more than just the singing — she talks about silencing trolls and Princess Diana along the way. The LA Times called it 'Brilliant'.
It's a solo stand-up performance, so it's just her on stage. The night is part of the Brighton Dome Comedy Festival, which is running across the city in partnership with Komedia, so this is one of several comedy nights on the bill around town. Seating is unreserved, so if you want a particular spot, it's worth getting there a bit early. The show is for ages 16 and over.
