Bi-monthly live music night where singers of all ages and styles perform alongside the BN1 House Band in a supportive, relaxed environment.
Singers Night returns to BN1 Arts Centre on Saturday 12 September, from 19:30 to 23:00. It's the centre's bi-monthly live music night, and the format is straightforward: singers of all ages, backgrounds and styles take turns performing alongside the BN1 House Band.
It works as more than a standard open mic. The house band provides the backing, so you're not just standing there with a guitar or a backing track; you've got a full band behind you. The night is billed as a celebration of live music, community and great voice, and it's open to singers at both ends of the experience scale, from emerging voices taking their first steps to seasoned performers. The room is described as relaxed and supportive, so it's as much about the atmosphere as it is about the singing.
If you want to be one of the people on stage, you'll need to get in touch with two song choices — one up-tempo and one ballad — and provide sheet music if you have it, along with your desired key. The house band takes it from there.

Singers Night is one of the regular fixtures at BN1 Arts Centre, an artist-led, multi-disciplinary creative arts centre that opened in 2023. The centre was built on the belief that 'creativity changes lives' and that everyone deserves the chance to create, and it runs a broad programme of professional theatre, family choirs and community showcases. They also state that finances should never be a barrier to creating or experiencing the creative arts, which is reflected in the price: entry is free. The night runs from 19:30 to 23:00 at BN1 Arts Centre CIC, New England Street, Brighton, BN1 4GW.
