Seamus Fogarty

Seamus Fogarty plays The Green Door Store on Saturday 13 February, with the night presented by Love Thy Neighbour. It's a duo show, Fogarty joined on stage by a live drummer, so the set will have a full rhythm section behind it rather than just him and his gear.

Fogarty is a London-based alt-folk alchemist, and his album Ships — released through the Scottish label Lost Map Records and the Swedish label Sing A Song Fighter — won critical acclaim and plenty of airplay on BBC6Music, including a shout-out from Guy Garvey and a live session for Gideon Coe and Marc Riley. BBC Radio 3's Elizabeth Alker described the record as a mix of electronica, German avant-garde and Irish folk, and Cillian Murphy has called him one of his favourite artists around at the moment. He usually builds out his live shows with analogue synths and drum machines, and has worked with musicians like multi-instrumentalist Emma Smith (Pulp, Beth Gibbons) and drummer Aram Zarikian (Grass Cut, Peaky Blinders).

He's spent a fair bit of time on the road, opening for Lisa O'Neill, Katherine Priddy and This is the Kit, and has played the Garden Stage at End Of The Road, Green Man and All Together Now festivals. This Brighton date is a duo performance, so it'll be Fogarty and a drummer on the bill. The show runs from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Green Door Store, Lower Goods Yard, Brighton Station, BN1 4FQ, and tickets are £17.
