Sam Eley is Basil Crumbwick: Soul Sewage

Sam Eley brings his character Basil Crumbwick to Komedia on Thursday 21 January 2027, with the show titled Soul Sewage. It's a stand-up set performed as Crumbwick, whom Eley bills as 'a horrid bloke' and describes as 'award-winning late-night villainy from an uncomfortable mind'.

If the 'horrid bloke' description sounds like a warning, the awards back up the work. Eley is a multiple award winner: he took Best Newcomer at the 2026 ISH Edinburgh Comedy Awards, the 2026 NextUp Biggest Award In Comedy, and a 2026 Skinny/Fest Bestie Award, on top of the 2025 Leicester Square Sketch-Off. The show has picked up five-star ratings from Chortle, The Skinny, and Fest, and the British Comedy Guide called it 'a masterclass in comedy writing'. The New York Times added it's 'a must see for comedy fans'.

The performance is in the Komedia Studio, which means unreserved seating—first come, first served—and it's for ages 16+. Doors open at 7:00pm, with the show starting at 7:30pm. Tickets start from £18.
