Royal Blood

Royal Blood are playing the Brighton Centre on Friday 4 December, bringing their two-man rock show back to the city they first emerged from. It's been twelve years since they arrived with one of the fastest-selling rock debuts of the century, and the duo — Mike Kerr on bass and vocals, Ben Thatcher on drums — has grown into an arena-filling, festival-headlining act since then.

There's a bit of a streak to their run: each of their four albums has hit Number One in the UK, and they've shifted over a million records. They're often talked about as one of the forerunners of the current guitar rock revival, and that's a fair place to start. The whole thing is built on just two people making a lot of noise, with Kerr handling the singing and the heavy riffs, and Thatcher on drums.

On stage, you'll hear Kerr singing 'Everything or nothing is all I know' and snarling over the thunderous 'Dead Company', the lead single from Ten Over Ten. The set draws from that same heavy, riff-led sound they've stuck with since the start, and it's the kind of show that works best when you're right in the thick of it.

Doors open at 6:30pm. One practical thing to keep in mind: the show is recommended for ages 14 and over in the standing area, so if you're bringing anyone younger, you'll want to check that before you book.
