Rich Hall: Chin Music

Rich Hall brings his stand-up show Chin Music to The Forge Comedy Club on Tuesday 29 September, part of a run presented by Off The Kerb and organised by Funny That Comedy. It's a solo night, so Hall is the only name on the bill.

The title Chin Music plays on two meanings: idle talk, and the brushback throw in baseball or cricket used to intimidate the batter. The show's notes say both describe Hall's comedy: idle but intimidating, sharp, quick, splenetic and sublimely improvisational. It's that mix of the casual and the cutting that gives the title its double meaning — the sort of set that can drift into a rambling tangent one minute and snap back into something pointed the next.

It's an adults-only room, aimed at ages 14 and over, with anyone under 18 needing to be accompanied by an adult. There's a fair bit of swearing and adult content to expect, so it's not one for a family outing. Seating is unreserved, allocated as you arrive, so if you've got a preference for where you sit, it's worth getting there a bit early.
