Classical superstar Nigel Kennedy performs Beethoven and Jimi Hendrix arrangements in this season finale concert with the Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra is wrapping up its 2026/27 season with a concert that brings together two very different musical worlds. On April 25, 2027, the Brighton Dome Concert Hall will host Nigel Kennedy for a performance that features both Beethoven’s Violin Concerto and a selection of Jimi Hendrix arrangements. Kennedy, who is known for his work across classical and contemporary genres, will be performing under the direction of Joanna MacGregor, the orchestra's music director.

For those interested in the background of the programme, there is an opportunity to attend 'The Listening Club' a few days before the main event. This is an hour-long illustrated talk led by Joanna MacGregor, scheduled for April 22 at the Brighton Unitarian Church. It is designed to provide some context on the music being performed, which might be useful if you want to get a better sense of how these specific pieces are being approached for this season finale.
The concert itself starts at 19:30. Regarding the practical side of things, tickets for the event start at £15. The Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra has a few pricing structures in place for the season: there is a 15% discount if you book three or more concerts, and a 20% discount if you book seven (though note that the 'Dido and Aeneazz' event is excluded from these offers). They also have specific provisions for younger audiences and those on lower incomes, with tickets available at £1 for anyone under 18 when accompanied by an adult, and a 50% discount for those on lower incomes. It is worth checking the official Brighton Philharmonic website if you are planning to book, as that is where the full details on these pricing tiers and availability are managed.
