Recital by the Regency String Quartet at the Corn Exchange, part of the Strings Attached coffee concert series.
The Regency String Quartet play at the Brighton Dome on Sunday 11 April 2027, starting at 11:00. It's a morning concert, part of the Strings Attached coffee concert series that's been running since 2011, so it's one of those mid-morning slots rather than a late night.
The programme runs through four different composers. They'll open with Benjamin Britten's Three Divertimenti, then move into Beethoven's String Quartet No. 11 in F minor, Op. 95 'Serioso', followed by Joseph Haydn's String Quartet B minor Op. 33 No. 1, and they'll close with Frank Bridge's String Quartet No. 4, H. 188. It's a broad spread of string quartet writing, from the early classical lines of Haydn to the more modern textures of Britten and Bridge.
On stage are Mabelle Young-Eun Park and Olwen Miles on violin, Jamie Howe on viola, and a cellist to be confirmed. The quartet formed at the Royal Academy of Music in 2021 and is made up of scholars from London conservatoires, supported by the Frost Trust Advanced Specialist Strings Ensemble Training Scheme from 2021 to 2024. They've picked up a few prizes along the way: the Royal Overseas League Strings and Keyboard Ensembles Category in 2025, the Wolfe Wolfinsohn String Quartet Prize, the Sir John Barbirolli Memorial Prize, and the Historical Women Composers Prize. They were also selected as 2025/26 Kirckman Concert Society Artists.

There's been some coaching and mentorship behind them too. Alex Redington of the Doric String Quartet has worked with them, and they've been mentored by Jon Thorne, So-Ock Kim, and Simon Rowland-Jones. In 2023, the Royal Academy of Music selected them for the Sir Elton John Global Exchange Programme, which took them to masterclasses in Hong Kong, and in 2025 they studied with Kim Kashkashian at the International Musicians Seminar Prussia Cove.
Tickets for a single concert are £27, or £25 for concessions. If you're planning to come back for more, a 4-concert saver is £97.20, or £90 for concessions.
