Quantic

Quantic is playing a DJ set at Quarters on Friday 4 December, with Jamz Supernova on the bill too. It's a night that sits right in the middle of the house, hip-hop and electronic sounds he's spent years blending.

If you're not familiar with him, Quantic's work covers a fair bit of ground: party-fuelled house beats, laidback hip-hop cuts, spiralling electronic productions and ambient slow jams. His 2001 album The 5th Exotic became a global electronic music cult classic, and he's released plenty since. The sound draws on a wide range of influences — fuzzy jazz licks, dusty hip-hop beats, and the things he picked up during his time in Colombia, alongside surf guitar, pattering drums and tender vocals. It's a lot to fit into one set, but that's exactly the kind of range he's known for.

The night is hosted by Quarters, a new Brighton venue housed beneath the historic arches that once held Zap and The Arch, built on decades of local club culture. It positions itself as a home for the city's music lovers, misfits and 'midnight families', valuing quality sound, bold programming and connection over clout, and frames itself as 'Brighton's new cultural HQ'.
