High-energy house music session with DJ Du Jour on the terrace of Patterns during Brighton Pride.
DJ Du Jour takes over the terrace at Patterns on Friday 31 July, with a high-energy house set that sits right in the middle of the city's Pride celebrations. It's a free entry, so it's one of the easier ways to get into the mix during a weekend when the seafront is usually packed.
Patterns has been a fixture of the Brighton seafront since it opened in 2015 at 10 Marine Parade, on the site of a former art deco hotel. The building itself has a deep musical heritage, having previously housed Ted Potters Music Bar and the infamous Escape Club. Over the years, it's built a double reputation: as a safe space for the city's underground club culture and as a small live music venue that punches above its weight, earning a nomination for best club at the DJ Mag awards. The terrace is one of its best spots, and having it open during Pride is a good fit.
The party falls during the city's biggest annual celebrations, with Brighton Pride filling August and drawing thousands of visitors to the coast. By the time 31 July rolls around, the atmosphere across town is already shifting towards the festivities, and this is one of the nights that kicks things off. DJ Du Jour is the only name on the bill, so the whole evening is built around her set.
