Live music session featuring indie pop band Pozi and the new project Prayer Tech at The Green Door Store.
Pozi and Prayer Tech are playing The Green Door Store on Thursday 24 September, a double bill that brings together two projects sharing the same set of faces. Pozi are a South London trio — Toby Burroughs on drums and vocals, Rosa Brook on violin and vocals, and Frank Lindsay on bass and vocals — and they've built their sound around a fairly unusual setup: no guitars, just churning violin, tightly wound bass and urgent, tumbling rhythms. They first emerged with the politically charged minimalism of PZ1 and later moved into the more expansive, textural world of Smiling Pools, balancing philosophical weight with wiry energy and a streak of dark humour that pushes them beyond the post-punk tag.
Prayer Tech is a newer project featuring current and past members of Pozi, Keg and Blue Bendy, and it pulls from a different set of influences: emo, post-hardcore and psychedelia. Their first album is due out this year, recorded at Crypt Studios, so this is one of the first chances to hear the new material live. Between the two, you'll get the lean, propulsive indie pop Pozi are known for alongside the heavier, more psychedelic leanings of Prayer Tech.
