New Year's Day club night recreating the legendary 2000 Positive Sounds rave, with Richard Grey, Black Octopus, Haptic Records crew and Dan Watts.
Positive Sounds are back at Ironworks Studios on Friday 1 January, their New Year's Day rave. It's a return to the scene of the crime: the warehouse that hosted the original crew's Millennium Eve party is now a state-of-the-art club and music venue, and this is the first time they're heading back to it.
On the eve of the new millennium, Positive Sounds threw what the organisers remember as the biggest underground rave Brighton had ever seen. Two thousand people partying for twelve hours straight in a central industrial warehouse — a night that earned the promoters a £5,000 fine. This New Year's Day edition is staged by Positive Sounds and runs for around six hours, a bit shorter than that original marathon, but in the same spot.
The line-up brings together Richard Grey, Black Octopus, the Haptic Records crew and Dan Watts, all playing alongside Positive's resident DJs. It's a full night of DJs rather than a single act, so the music carries through the whole session. The Haptic Records crew are regulars on the Brighton circuit, and having them on the bill alongside the residents means the night will draw on the same sound that built the original rave.

It runs from 20:00 on Friday 1 January through to 02:00 on Saturday 2 January, so it's a New Year's Day night rather than a New Year's Eve one. Tickets are between £12.50 and £14.70, and the venue is Ironworks Studios, 30 Cheapside, Brighton, BN1 4GD.
