Over-30s only indie night with live sets from Feeling Gloomy and Age Against The Machine and old-school indie DJs at Dust Brighton.
Over 30s Afternoon of Indie comes to Dust Brighton on Saturday 21 November, from 15:00 to 19:00. It's part of a wider 'An Afternoon of Indie' party that runs across 17 cities, and this one is strictly for the over-30s, with a strict door policy and ID required.
On the night, Feeling Gloomy and Age Against The Machine take the stage, supported by Feeling Gloomy and Old School Indie DJs. The DJs work their way across the decades, playing indie classics for 70s punks, 80s new wavers, 90s Britpoppers and early 2000s posers, with the odd bit of rock n' roll, soul, northern soul and ska mixed in. It's billed as 'Old School Indie – the indie night for the over 30s', and the music follows that line from the punk roots through to the Britpop era and beyond.
One of the things that sets this apart from a typical night out is the timing. It wraps up at 19:00, so you're out by early evening rather than the early hours. The organisers put it as a way to keep the night going on your own terms: you can grab fish and chips on the seafront, head to a pub, or just head home. It's a proper afternoon session that leaves the rest of your Saturday open.
