A stand-up comedy night where Nigel Havers shares a lifetime of gloriously ridiculous stories, from his early life to his career in film and theatre.
Nigel Havers is coming to the Theatre Royal on Tuesday 27 October, for an evening of stories from a career that's spanned five decades. He's billed as the quintessential Englishman with the cut-glass accent, and he's spent those fifty years working across stage and screen, from box-office hits like Chariots of Fire and Empire of the Sun to the TV series Don't Wait Up, a string of West End plays, and his fair share of Palladium pantomimes.
The show is rooted in his own life, and the 1967 Rolling Stones drugs bust is one of the stories he'll be talking about. He's touched on that before — he appeared at Chichester Festival Theatre in Redlands, a main-house production that dealt with the bust and his early years, and he also starred in Private Lives with Patricia Hodge. He's still not a Sir.
What he's promising for the night is a mix of reminiscence, highs and lows, behind-the-scenes gossip, moments of sheer madness, and a reveal of one of his off-stage talents. It's a chance to hear the stories from a long career told by the man himself, rather than reading them in a profile.
