Site-specific outdoor sound installation with four works by Asian artists across Jubilee Square, blending traditional instruments, percussion, field recordings and electronic sound.
Natural Frequency comes to Jubilee Square on Friday 3 October, a site-specific outdoor sound installation presented by Platform Asia and Dreamy Place. It's a collaboration with the music label Chinabot and the experimental music platform IKLECTIK, and it brings together four sound works by Asian artists represented by Chinabot: Ayankoko, Bamboo Mystics, Fahmi Mursyid and Sipaningkah.
The four pieces move between rhythmic, acoustic and atmospheric approaches, combining traditional instruments, percussion, field recordings and electronic sound. The audio is played through a multi-speaker system developed specifically for the site that moves around the square, so the sound shifts as you move through the space. The experience runs for 25 minutes, with no set start time and no time limit, meaning you can drift in and out whenever you like rather than sticking to a fixed schedule.
Across the four works, the artists use sound to carry memory, culture and place, tracing connections between inherited musical traditions, contemporary life and relationships with the natural world across Asia. It's a project that looks at how sound can hold onto those things and carry them forward.

It's free to experience, so you can just turn up at Jubilee Square on the day.
