Halloween album launch party for debut album 'Sigils', with live music and spooky fancy dress.
Murdock and the Mortals are taking over The Folklore Rooms on Saturday 31 October for their Halloween album launch party. It's a double-header of a night: they're celebrating their debut album, Sigils, and they're doing it on Halloween, so the date and the occasion line up. The band will play Sigils from cover to cover, with musical guests joining in throughout the evening.
If you haven't come across them yet, they're a Brighton band who describe themselves as the city's 'swampiest blues band' — that swampy, low-slung blues sound is exactly what they're bringing to the Folklore Rooms. The set is built around Sigils, and since they're running it from start to finish, you'll hear the whole record in one go rather than a handful of singles mixed in with other bits. The musical guests on the bill add a few more names to the night, so it's more than just the one band on stage.
And because it's Halloween, fancy dress is encouraged. The band will be sporting a New Orleans theme of purple, green and gold, though it's entirely optional for the crowd — you can turn up in costume or just come as you are. If you do fancy it, the New Orleans colours give you a starting point to work from, but there's no pressure to match them.
