Mr Cutts

Mr Cutts plays Quarters on Saturday 10 October, his first show at the venue. The name on the bill is the recording project of Owen Cutts, a London-based songwriter, producer, DJ and artist who's worked with Stormzy, Kojey Radical, Greentea Peng, Maverick Sabre, Jacob Collier, Leigh-Anne and Tom Grennan. He's an Ivor Novello nominee, and his career grew out of a deep love of music in all its forms.

If you've come across him online, it's likely through 'Old Music Fridays', the series he's best known for. The whole thing is built around digging deeper into familiar records and uncovering the stories behind them, and that's exactly what he's bringing to the room here. He's described this as more than a DJ set, combining old music, soul samples and storytelling.

Quarters itself is a new Brighton venue, housed beneath the historic arches that once held Zap and The Arch. It's run by Jamolations, a label rooted in the city's jump-up drum and bass scene, so it's a local operation behind the scenes. This is Cutts' first night there, and it's a good one to start with if you're into the digging-and-telling side of things.
