Stand-up show by British comedian Monica Hsueh, born in Taiwan and raised in Britain, at Komedia.
Monica Hsueh brings her show How to Be a Strong Woman in One Hour to Komedia on Thursday 22 April 2027, starting at 20:00. It's presented by Live Nation at the Komedia studio, one of the city's home venues for comedy and cabaret.
Born in Taiwan and raised in Britain, Hsueh grew up between two cultures and conflicting ideas about who she should become — a tension that feeds her comedy. She's reached millions online with a mix of confidence, self-deprecation and unexpected turns, and her live reputation is built on a string of competition successes: she was a finalist at the Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year 2024 and the Bath Comedy Festival New Act Competition 2024, and runner-up at the Chichester Fringe New Act Competition 2024. More recently, she was a BBC New Comedy Awards 2025 semi-finalist and a British Comedian of the Year 2024 finalist. Critics have called her a 'genius', a 'fresh voice' and 'a proper natural'.
