Stand-up comedy show by Michael Akadiri at Komedia, a multi-award-winning comedian and junior doctor.
Michael Akadiri brings Don't Call Me Uncle! to Komedia on Saturday 6 March, a second date added to the run after the first one on Friday 9 October sold out. If you missed the October show, this is your second chance to catch him in the Studio.
Akadiri is a bit of a Komedia regular — a resident junior doctor here, which is a useful way to sum up the two halves of his life. He's a multi-award-winning comedian, a doctor, a husband and a father, and he's already completed two hit UK tours. He was named Komedia New Comedian of the Year in 2020 and picked up the Comedian of Medicine Award at the Haags Comedy Festival, and he's been nominated for a Biggest Award in Comedy. Metro called him 'supremely talented and likeable' and Chortle 'hugely entertaining', and the two descriptions point to the same thing: sharp-witted, politically punchy anecdotes that don't lose their warmth.
His work reaches well beyond the club circuit, too. On screen and radio, he's appeared on Comedy Central LIVE, ITV's Stand Up Sketch and Channel 4's Stand Up to Cancer, and has worked with Capital Xtra's Breakfast Show, LBC and BBC Radio 4's Loose Ends. He's also toured with Jason Manford and Emmanuel Sonubi, so he's used to playing to rooms of a fair size.
