End of summer special featuring Joe Goddard of Hot Chip at Patterns in Brighton.
Joe Goddard is playing Patterns on Sunday 28 June, as part of Memory Box: Disco in the House. It's billed as an end-of-summer special, and the name gives you a good idea of where the night is headed: disco and house, played out in the open rather than tucked away in a basement.
If you don't recognise the name on its own, you'll know him as one half of Hot Chip. He's spent years balancing the band's synth-pop with his own work as a DJ and producer, and this is him stepping out from the group to take the decks. The whole thing is presented by Memory Box, so it's a club night around the dancefloor rather than a live band set.
It's a daytime one, which changes the vibe. It runs from 17:00 to 22:00, so you're in and out while it's still light, with the disco and house taking over the afternoon and early evening. If you're into that side of electronic music, it's a decent way to spend a Sunday without staying up until the early hours.
