Live music by Mauvey, a Ghanaian-born and UK-raised soul, R&B and hip hop artist, at Dust.
Mauvey plays Dust on Friday 20 November, a stop on the REAL LIFE NO DIGITAL tour. The Ghanaian-born, UK-raised artist works across soul, R&B and hip hop, and this is a headline show with Mauvey as the sole bill.
He describes his project as AfroCinema — not just a music genre, but a whole universe he's built around his work. He cites Michael Jackson and Prince as his main inspirations, and you can hear that in the way he pulls from different places at once: alternative music, electronic production, pop hooks, punk performances and Afro melodies, all held together by singer-songwriter storytelling. The AfroCinema world doesn't stop at the music, either; it stretches into film, fashion, live performance and literature, so the stage show is part of the larger picture.
He's coming off a landmark run of performances at Glastonbury Festival in 2025, and he's shared stages with a wide-ranging list of names: Hard Life, Talib Kweli, Digable Planets, July Talk, Oxlade, Lights and Snotty Nose Rez Kids. The Brighton date is part of the REAL LIFE NO DIGITAL tour, which brings that live, in-the-room energy to the city.
