A stand-up comedy show by Luke Wright that blends poetry and humour, exploring themes of certainty and change.
Luke Wright brings his new show Yes. to The Komedia Studio on Thursday 28 January 2027. It's a bit of a hybrid evening, part poetry and part stand-up, and it sits right in the middle of what Wright has been doing for a long time. He's spent twenty-five years writing poems that wrestle with the world around him, and this one continues that thread.
The show is built on the idea that certainty isn't as useful as he once thought. He talks about heroes becoming more complicated, old certainties wobbling, and finding himself looking again at the country he lives in, the people he loves, and even those he thought he'd already made his mind up about. He describes it as a show about changing your mind without losing your convictions, and about staying open in an increasingly entrenched world.
Wright is a Fringe First winner, and the reception for Yes. has been strong. The Stage called it honest, humorous and full of wonder, while The List said the poems 'shoot arrows through the heart'. If you're used to his work, you'll recognise the way he mixes the political with the personal, and the way he lets the poetry and the stand-up lean into each other rather than keeping them separate.
