A 90s and 2000s day party with music from the Lovers II Friends night, featuring 90s and 00s R'n'B and pop hits, aligned with the sober curious movement.
Lovers II Friends is taking over the Komedia Studio Bar on Saturday 19 December for a 90s and 00s day party. It's a daytime session that sticks to one thing: R'n'B and pop from the 90s and 2000s. The set list runs through the big names of that era, with Britney Spears, Destiny's Child, Spice Girls, TLC, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, J-Lo, Usher, Pink, Aqua, Ja Rule & Ashanti, Nelly, Kelly Rowland, Cassie, Kelis, Dr Dre, Mary J Blige, Ludacris and Ne-Yo all getting their turn.
They describe it as a day party for the millennial generation, and the whole thing is built around the idea of hitting the club and being home by the time the doors are usually opening. It's a standing show for ages 21+, and since it's in the North Laine, it pairs well with lunch nearby before you head in.
There's a specific approach to the bar, too. The party aligns with the 'sober curious' movement, putting the music and dancing at the centre rather than a drinking-heavy night, with low- and no-alcohol options available. It's less about the drinks and more about the records.
