Two of the Netherlands most exciting underground house selectors land at Quarters.
Locklead and Julian Anthony are playing Quarters on Saturday 21 November, with more names to be announced. The bill brings together two house selectors from the Netherlands underground, and the night is built around them.
Julian Anthony is the one with the longer story to tell. Born Julian Torres in Los Angeles, he's a house DJ and producer of Mexican descent, born on 3 March 1990. He grew up on a diet of 80s hits, disco, hip-hop and rap, and it was that foundation that led him into the underground electronic scene. He started out in 2009, drawing on the likes of Hot Since 82 and The Martinez Brothers, and he spent his early years getting to grips with the Pioneer CDJs to build his following in the house scene. That's the kind of background that usually shows up in the record bag — a mix of the dancefloor staples he grew up with and the house he's been playing for over a decade.
Locklead takes the other half of the bill, and the two of them together make for a night of house music from two different sides of the Atlantic. With more names still to be added to the line-up, the full picture isn't quite there yet, but these two are the ones the night is built around.
