Liberty Styles play The Rose Hill on Thursday 3 September, with Josh Vadiveloo and Adam Parry-Davies joining them. It's billed as an evening of tap dance and collaboration, and it's a New York-based act coming over to Brighton.
Liberty Styles (they/them) is a tap dancer, electronic musician and performer whose work draws on satire, collaged sound, drag and rhythmic improvisation rooted in the jazz tradition. They tour sold-out shows in New York and have performed at the Guggenheim, New York Live Arts, The Joyce Theater and the Apollo Theater, with work cited in The New York Times, Jazzwise and Billboard. In 2023 they toured the UK as a tap soloist alongside BBC Jazz Musician of the Year Xhosa Cole, and they feature on his 2025 album On a Modern Genius Vol. 1.
For this night, they're bringing in special guests Josh Vadiveloo and Adam Parry-Davies, so it'll be a collaborative set rather than a solo one. The whole thing sits in that improvised tap and electronics space, with the jazz tradition as its root.
