Lawrence Chaney: Weight A Minute

Lawrence Chaney brings her new solo stand-up show, Weight A Minute, to Komedia on Sunday 28 March 2027. It's part of a 2027 UK tour produced by Hamilton Hunter Live & Drag Tickets, and the Brighton date is one of the stops on that run.

If you're not already familiar with her, Chaney is a Scottish drag superstar who made her name winning RuPaul's Drag Race UK, where she became the show's first Scottish and first plus-size winner. Since then, she's been hard to miss: she picked up a BAFTA in 2021 as 'Best Scot on Screen', is the face of Irn-Bru, and fronted her own show, Tartan Around with Lawrence Chaney, which went out on BBC 3 and broadcast globally. Beyond the screen, she's written a book and popped up on The British Sewing Bee, Celebrity Gogglebox, Saturday Night Takeaway and The Wheel.

Weight A Minute is a brand-new solo stand-up show, and it marks a bit of a shift in approach. Chaney is well known for taking jabs at others, but here she turns that habit on herself, diving into weight loss, dating and current affairs with zero shame and even less filter. It's a stand-up set rather than a drag revue, so the focus is on the material and the storytelling.

The show is at the Komedia Basement, 44-47 Gardner Street, BN1 1UN. It starts at 8:00 pm, with doors opening at 7:00 pm, and tickets are £28.50. Seating is unreserved cabaret style, and the show is for ages 16 and over.
