Brighton-based quartet Ladylike perform raw, pastoral folk with atmospheric builds, presenting their debut EP at The Green Door Store.
The Brighton-based quartet Ladylike are returning to a familiar local stage at The Green Door Store on Friday, 20th March. The group, consisting of Georgia Butler on vocals and guitar, Spencer Withey handling synths and guitar, James Ely on drums, and Archie Sagers on the six-string bass, has been carving out a distinct space in the city's music scene. This upcoming show is part of a wider tour across the UK and France, centred around the release of their debut EP, It’s A Pleasure Of Mine, to Know You’re Fine. They’ve released this project under the Heist or Hit label, working alongside producer Ali Chant—a name you might recognise from his collaborations with artists like PJ Harvey and Aldous Harding.

Musically, the band leans into what is often described as "weird folk," a style that pairs raw, pastoral songwriting with the kind of atmospheric builds usually found in post-rock. It’s a sound that feels connected to the tensions of modern life, moving between quiet, traditional folk moments and more expansive, textural pop. This balance has already seen them pick up support from Rough Trade and KEXP, alongside performances at festivals such as Green Man and Dot To Dot. Having previously supported acts like Goodbye and played sets at venues like Alphabet, they’ve spent the last year or so refining these tracks in front of live audiences before committing them to the new EP.
The evening is scheduled to start at 19:00 when the doors open, and the music will run through until 23:00. It’s an 18+ event, which is standard for the venue, and tickets are currently available for £11.22 via Dice. Given the layout of The Green Door Store, it’s a good opportunity to hear the new material in a setting that suits their more atmospheric builds. Whether you’ve caught them at The Great Escape before or are just getting familiar with their debut EP, the night offers a full look at where the band is currently heading with their sound.
