A family-friendly, marshalled bicycle ride from various pick-up points across the city to Stanmer Park for the Brighton Permaculture Society's Apple Harvest Day.
Kidical Mass is back on Sunday 20 September, with a family bike ride from across the city to Stanmer Park. It's a free, marshalled ride that's grown into one of the biggest child-friendly cycling events in the country, part of a global campaign inspired by Critical Mass. The whole thing is about the joy of getting around by bike, but it's also a call to the Council for safer, connected cycle lanes across Brighton & Hove.
The ride starts at St Peter's in Portslade, with pick-up points at Hove Lagoon, the Peace Statue, Palace Pier, The Level, and Moulsecoomb Library, before finishing at Stanmer Park. It's marshalled for safety and moves at a gentle pace, open to all ages and abilities, with children accompanied by an adult. In the city, it's run by a coalition of local cycling organisations: Bricycles, Brighton Bike Hub, the Brighton Multicultural Women's Cycle Club (The BMWs), Clean Air for Brighton & Hove, and the Old Shoreham Road (OSR) Bike Train, with funding from Cycling UK's Big Bike Revival. The campaign began in 2023 and by 2025 was drawing hundreds of riders.

The Brighton route traditionally heads to Stanmer Park for the Brighton Permaculture Society's Apple Harvest Day, a date James Walsh of Bricycles calls one of his favourites of the year, complete with fresh apple juice, Morris dancers, and singers in the orchard. The ride starts at 12:15pm, arriving at the park by 1:45pm, with a return ride departing at 4pm. It's free to take part.
