Concert by folk singer-songwriter Joshua Burnside, known for fusing Irish folk with rock, indie and Americana, presented by FORM Presents.
Joshua Burnside plays Komedia on Wednesday 5 May 2027, with the show starting at 7:30 pm. He's a folk singer-songwriter from County Down in Northern Ireland, now based in Belfast, and this is a headline date presented by FORM Presents. He won't be on his own for the whole night, either — there are special guests on the bill, so you'll get more than just one act.
Burnside is known for his experimental approach to folk, and that's a good way to frame what he does. He takes traditional Irish folk and weaves it together with rock, indie and Americana, and he's not afraid to pull in some unusual techniques along the way. It's that experimental side that sets him apart from a more straightforward folk act — he's as interested in the textures and the sounds as he is in the songs themselves.
He's got a fair bit of recognition behind him, too. He won the NI Music Prize for EPHRATA, and he's built his name around that blend of folk and rock, with the experimental side always running through it. If you're into folk but like it when things get a bit weirder or lean into a full band sound, that's where he sits.
