Johnny Hates Jazz play Komedia Basement on the Shattered Dreams Tour, celebrating 40 years since their 1987 hit 'Shattered Dreams'.
Johnny Hates Jazz play the Komedia Basement on Wednesday 26 May 2027, as part of The Shattered Dreams Tour. It's a date marking 40 years since their 1987 hit 'Shattered Dreams' reached the top five in the UK, mainland Europe and Asia, and peaked at number two in Japan. The song didn't stop there, either: in 1988 it hit number two on the US Billboard chart and topped the US Adult Contemporary chart.
That period was the band's commercial high-water mark. 'Shattered Dreams' was followed by other global successes, including the anti-war song 'I Don't Want To Be A Hero', 'Turn Back The Clock' (which featured Kim Wilde), 'Heart Of Gold' and 'Don't Say It's Love'. The album Turn Back The Clock entered the UK charts at number one, sold over four million copies and went triple-platinum. Clark Datchler left the band at the end of 1988 and returned in 2009.
The current line-up is Datchler on songwriting, vocals and keyboards, and Mike Nocito on production, engineering and bass guitar. They're celebrating the 40th anniversary of 'Shattered Dreams' with this tour, and alongside it they'll be releasing a Shattered Dreams compilation album on Revolver Records — double vinyl plus CD — that brings together their best-known songs from the late 80s to the present, with four brand new tracks included. The set will draw from that long stretch of material, from the early hits to the newer stuff.
