Stand-up comedy show by John Robertson, creator of The Dark Room, in the Komedia Studio.
John Robertson brings his new stand-up solo show, Excitable Boy!, to Komedia on Friday 19 March 2027. It's part of a wider tour, so this is one of several dates he's taking the set across the country.
If you've come across him before, you'll know him as the creator of The Dark Room, the improv game show that's become a bit of a legend in comedy circles. It was named the best-reviewed comedy at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2025, and Robertson himself was nominated for Best International Act at the New Zealand Comedy Festival that same year. Critics have described him as 'a force of nature', with one warning that his star could become unreachable. Excitable Boy! is a different beast entirelyβa proper stand-up solo show rather than the improv format of The Dark Room.
He's balancing this tour with a few other things on the go: The Dark Room is running as a full tour show in its own right, and he's also making an Off-Broadway debut at Asylum Theatre in Manhattan. So while Excitable Boy! is the one coming to Brighton, it's just one part of a very busy run.

The show is in the Komedia Studio, with the main feature being Robertson himself. It starts at 8:00 pm, and doors open at 7:30 pm, so you've got half an hour to get in and settled before he takes the stage. The venue is at 44-47 Gardner Street, BN1 1UN.
